Simrad® Releases Free Software Upgrade for NSO, NSS and GO
Series Displays
New Software Enables Active Imaging™ and StructureScan® 3D
Enhancements
A new software update for Simrad® NSO, NSS and
GO series displays has been released that provides new sonar functionality,
sonar enhancements and other improvements to the user interface that make
Simrad multifunction displays even easier to use. The 18.3 update
includes support for high-resolution Active Imaging™, StructureScan® 3D with
Active Imaging™ enhancements*, Dual Mode
WiFi* and significant
improvements to the user interface, including dedicated sonar pages for easier
access to each sonar type.
*NSO and NSS only
Active Imaging SideScan
Active Imaging
Perfect for pinpointing fish-holding areas
like rockpiles, wrecks, bridge pilings, ditches and drop-offs, high-resolution
Active Imaging* allows anglers to see structure and cover in extreme
high-resolution detail, at a greater distance than any other structure imaging
technology. The 18.3 software update enables support for both Active Imaging
3-in-1 (CHIRP sonar | SideScan | DownScan Imaging™) and 2-in-1 (SideScan |
DownScan Imaging) transducers.
*NSS evo3/evo2, GO series and SonarHub™
only
StructureScan
3D with Active Imaging Enhancements
Anglers will have an easier time pinpointing prime fishing
areas with higher-resolution, three-dimensional views of structure and cover
included with the Active Imaging enhancements for StructureScan 3D*.
Enhancements include a cleaner water column with less noise, refreshed color
palettes and improved sonar processing to deliver the maximum amount of detail;
plus a new depth-highlighting feature that colors the user-selected upper- and
lower-depth limit area to help anglers better isolate specific structure and
bottom depth.
*NSO evo3/evo2, NSS evo3/evo2 only
Quick and Easy Access to Sonar
Anglers will get quicker, one-touch access to all of their
sonar via a simplified NSO, NSS and GO series interface, featuring dedicated
sonar pages for Echo, SideScan, DownScan Imaging and StructureScan 3D. New
custom split-screen panel configurations are also available that allow anglers
greater control over the display of splitscreen panels – the perfect way to
showcase the new Simrad capability to display SideScan, DownScan Imaging and
StructureScan 3D on the same screen, at the same time.
Dual Mode WiFi
With Dual Mode WiFi, you can maintain a WiFi connection to your
NSO evo3 or NSS evo3 and still use it as an access point for screen
mirroring/remote control from a smartphone or tablet via the Link app. Prior to
the 18.3 software upgrade, NSO and NSS displays could only perform one of the
tasks at a time – connecting to the internet or serving as an access point for
screen mirroring/remote control. Dual Mode WiFi will be added to GO series
displays in an upcoming software release.
Enhanced
Amplitude Scope
Amplitude Scope enhancements for NSO evo3/evo2 and NSS
evo3/evo2 displays integrate advanced sonar data into the scope, including new
onscreen indicators for the location of the bottom and gain level, plus the
option to display the scope horizontally across the screen.
This real-time analysis illustrates the strength of fish
returns, their position, and the noise in the water column, giving users finer
gain control and a greater capacity to tune the sonar display to maximize target
detection. The horizontal mode allows further expansion of this detail over a
larger area.
General Improvements
The software upgrade includes HALO24 radar support for NSO
evo2 displays, in addition to smartphone notifications for NSO evo3.
“We are excited to bring these new features and
enhancements to our customers,” said Leif Ottosson, Navico CEO and President. “The
upgrades we have made to NSS, NSO and GO series displays will help our
customers make the most of their time on the water.”
