Entertainment
Wednesday 23rd July – Hip Pocket Trio Jazz
The Hip Pocket Trio was conceived as a Westport based jazz soul trio
in 2012. The band features Eddie Rodgers on saxophone, harmonica and vocals and
Donal Hoban on drums and vocals. The ensemble also features a variety of
exciting pianists, bass players and guitarists who guest with the trio. On this
trip the trio is completed by long term collaborator John Flatley on piano and
vocals. HPT are exponents of jazz, soul, funk and blues delivered in a
contemporary style with a nod to the past masters. Jazz and Bossa standards take
their place alongside hip hop inflected grooves and New Orleans inspired swamp
music. This is music to be savoured, fresh alternative and timeless... |
Thursday 24th July – Dennis McCalmont
An influence of Rod Stewart in the vocal performance and musicality of Mayo
based Dennis McCalmont can be heard. Dennis is a singer/songwriter who
entertains effortlessly with his mellow vocals, and smooth guitar playing. His
new release, “Soul Recall”, features uplifting, soul/rock cuts and one of the
favourites is the song, “I Can’t Get Deeper”. It’s a really good, honest soul
number. |
Friday 25th July – Old Tricks
Old Tricks are a three piece band from Westport. The band has all different
tastes in music which means you get a bit of everything through their set. From
The Beatles to Bruno Mars Old Tricks have pleased crowds of all generations
everywhere, playing covers of songs from a huge range of big names as well as
throwing in a few of their own songs. With Killian Berry on lead vocals and
guitar, Kevin Ryder on drums, and Aaron Doyle on Bass guitar, the band manages
to put a contemporary touch on the classics, without taking away from what made
the songs great in the first place. |
