The Coast Guard has moved small boats and vehicles that will be used to assess post-storm damage to south Florida ports and waterways into a hanger at Air Station Miami in preparation of Hurricane Irma, Sept. 8, 2017. Once Hurricane Irma passes, Coast Guard teams will assess port conditions, aids to navigation, and waterway safety and navagability to begin reopening ports and waterways.
